Brand
strategy.

Before designing anything, you need to know what the brand is trying to say — and to whom. Strategy is the work of finding that place and defending it with clarity.

Talk about a project ↗

A brand is not what you say. It is what remains afterwards.

Plenty of good companies stay invisible because they never decided what they wanted to stand for. They talk about everything, to everyone, and end up being remembered for nothing. Brand strategy is the work of making that decision deliberately: choosing a territory, understanding why it is defensible, and translating it into something the whole team can repeat without consulting a manual.

At EPB9 the process starts with listening. We talk to the founders, to the sales team, and whenever possible to the customers. We cross that with what competitors already occupy. The output is not a handsome document to file away — it is a set of decisions that guides everything from the tone of an email to the next launch.

How we work

  1. Immersion

Interviews with leadership and the commercial team, plus a review of the company's history and existing material.

  2. Diagnosis

A map of the competitive landscape: what competitors already own and which territories are still open.

  3. Territory

Definition of positioning, priority audience and central promise — with the reasoning behind each choice.

  4. Narrative

Translating positioning into messages: what the brand says, how it says it, and what it would never say.

  5. Activation

Creative direction and decision criteria so the strategy survives day-to-day execution.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a brand strategy project take?

It depends on the scale and on how many people need to be interviewed. Projects usually run from four to ten weeks, and the schedule is agreed with you before we start.

Do I need strategy if I already have a logo?

Most likely yes. A logo is a signal; strategy is the decision about what that signal stands for. We often receive brands with a finished identity and an undefined narrative — and that is exactly where perception falls apart.

Does strategy come before visual identity?

Whenever possible. Designing without defined positioning turns design into a matter of taste. When both stages run together, the result is faster and involves less rework.

Do you work with international clients?

Yes. Projects are run remotely and we work with clients in Brazil and abroad, in English or Portuguese.
